Do solar panels work in Alaska's winter?
They produce, but just a few hours per day in midwinter, and snow cover further reduces yield. Panels mounted at a steeper tilt shed snow better. Production is heavily weighted to spring and summer, so winter will be covered by the grid or a battery rather than by generation.
Is solar worth it in Alaska?
It depends on the energy's local cost.
